A leading chemical company is looking for a Finance Director in Mexico to provide strategic financial leadership, oversee budgeting, and ensure compliance. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience in finance, fluent in both Spanish and English, and proven expertise in multinational environments. Extensive travel within Mexico is required, and candidates are preferably based near major airports.

Position Overview

The Finance Director – Mexico will provide strategic financial leadership for the company’s growing operations in Mexico. This role will support all commercial, operational, financial, and administrative aspects of the business, while serving as a key liaison between local operations and global leadership. The Finance Director will be responsible for driving the implementation of regional financial strategies and championing scalable processes and best practices. This role is critical to ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and performance optimization as the organization expands its footprint across Mexico.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership and Regional Planning
    • Develop and implement regional financial strategies and business plans aligned with corporate goals.
    • Analyze local market trends, identify opportunities and risks.
    • Act as the primary liaison between Mexican operations and global leadership.
    • Assess and optimize financial operations, policies, and controls to support growth.
  • Financial Oversight and Operations
    • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes for Mexico.
    • Ensure compliance with Mexican statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
    • Establish and monitor internal controls and financial best practices.
  • Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Collaborate with Accounting, Treasury, HR, IT, Legal, Operations, and Procurement teams.
    • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities for cost optimization and operational efficiencies.
    • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in financial processes.
  • Leadership And Communication
    • Serve as a strategic financial leader for the region.
    • Articulate financial insights to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
    • Lead financial teams through change, integration, and transformation initiatives.
    • Communicate effectively in both Spanish and English across all levels of the organization.
Expected Skills And Qualifications
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP and Mexican statutory accounting, tax, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in multinational corporate environments, ideally in distribution, logistics, or manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated success in managing integrations, system migrations, and financial transformations.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English (written and spoken).
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Skills And Qualifications
  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Experience with SAP ERP systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Travel
  • This role requires extensive travel within Mexico and occasional travel to U.S. locations as needed.
Location
  • Mexico (Preference for candidates located near a major airport)
  • We are open to qualified candidates located throughout Mexico, with a preference for those based near a major airport to support occasional travel requirements. Mexico City is ideal, but not required.
