About JBT Marel
- Location: Remote position based in Mexico — preferably Puebla, but the candidate may live anywhere in Mexico, as long as they are near an airport for frequent travel.
- Travel: Approximately 90% travel, domestic and international, with trips lasting up to 6 weeks.
- Driver’s License: Must have a valid driver’s license to operate a vehicle.
- Availability: High availability for frequent and extended travel.
- English Level: High proficiency in English required.

The Opportunity: High‑Pressure Expertise
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Field Service Technician to be the face of JBT Marel on customer sites. This role is critical for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and support of our advanced food processing equipment, with a specific focus on High Pressure Processing (HPP) and complex water systems.
Key Responsibilities
As a Field Service Technician, you'll ensure that our systems operate at peak performance and maximize customer uptime.
- Installation & Commissioning: Lead the installation and commissioning of new systems (projects typically span from a few days to 4 weeks), ensuring completion within the project team’s scope, schedule, and budget.
- Advanced System Expertise: Install, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical, hydraulic (up to 3,000 psi), and ultra‑high‑pressure fluid systems (up to 120,000 psi), including intensifiers, variable pumps, and filtration systems.
- Controls & Electrical Support: Diagnose and repair electrical systems (24 VDC to 480 VAC) and control systems including PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (e.g., RS Logix5000/ControlLogix).
- Preventative & Emergency Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) and respond quickly to emergency/unscheduled repair needs to minimize customer downtime.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and submit accurate inspection reports, service reports, time sheets, and expense reports in a timely manner.
- Customer & Team Interaction: Act as the primary on‑site technical contact, providing clear updates, consultation, and quality reviews to customers. Work closely with internal engineering and project management teams to resolve complex operational issues.
- Training: May supervise and train customer personnel on equipment operation, testing, and maintenance.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience: Experience as a Field Service Technician is preferred, ideally with high‑value, complex capital equipment.
- Education: Associate of Science (AS), Associate of Applied Science (AAS), or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Mobility: Willing and able to travel up to 90% (domestic and international), with trips lasting up to six consecutive weeks.
- Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical CAD drawings, P&IDs, flow diagrams, and hydraulic prints.
- Ability to read and interpret PLC ladder logic is a strong plus.
- Experience with precision measurement tools.
- Industry Experience: Previous work experience in a food processing facility is desirable.
- Soft Skills: Proactive, self‑driven, able to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with customers and internal teams.
- Must‑Haves: Valid passport and valid driver’s license, ability to live near an airport, high English proficiency, and high travel availability.
