A global electronics manufacturer located in Tijuana is seeking an experienced leader for their electronic manufacturing operations. This role involves overseeing SMT and assembly processes, driving continuous improvement through Lean and Six Sigma initiatives, and managing the setup of new product lines. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and a minimum of 15 years in electronic assembly manufacturing, with strong project management and leadership skills. An advanced level of English is required.

Formación

Descripción del empleo

Responsible for leading the setup, development, and performance of the electronic manufacturing operations in Tijuana. Oversees SMT and electronic assembly activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production that meets delivery, cost, and performance targets. This role will establish a world‑class manufacturing operation from inception—hiring, training, and developing the team, transferring production from Asia, and implementing robust systems for continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership

Plan, direct, and coordinate production operations across SMT and assembly value streams.

  • Develop and implement standard work for Supervisors and ensure discipline in execution.
  • Oversee production schedules and ensure commitments made by Work Cell Managers are achieved.
  • Lead the "Hour by the Hour" performance management process, drive daily accountability, and ensure missed targets are addressed with timely action plans.
  • Maintain adequate staffing and skill levels across shifts to meet production demand.
  • Collaborate with other people to forecast quarterly/monthly headcount and resource needs.
  • Oversee creation and execution of strategic training plans to ensure capability development and cross‑training.
Continuous Improvement

Drive Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives focused on waste elimination, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.

  • Establish and maintain metrics dashboards and scorecards to track performance against goals.
  • Ensure standardization, documentation, and sustainability of process improvements.
New Product Introduction & Transfers

Lead the setup and qualification of SMT and assembly lines for transferred and new products.

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure a smooth product transfer from Asia to Mexico.
  • Ensure processes are capable, documented, and aligned with product quality and capacity requirements.
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Electronic,

Experience:
  • Previous: Minimum 15 years in electronic assembly manufacturing (SMT, PCBA, test, and system integration).
  • Proven experience setting up or managing multi‑shift operations.
  • Demonstrated success in Lean Manufacturing, project management, and NPI leadership.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional teams andestablishingnew manufacturing lines or transfers.

English level: Advanced and VISA required

Knowledge required:
  • SMT processes: Pick & Place, Reflow, wave soldering, test engineering.
  • Lean and Six Sigma tools (Green/Black Belt preferred).
  • Hands‑on experience with ERP/MES systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of quality systems and industry standards (ISO 9001, IPC standards, RoHS, UL, etc.).
