Formación

  • 4+ years of experience in customs or production companies.
  • Solid knowledge of Mexican customs law, including Anexo 24 and Anexo 31.
  • Ability to identify and execute customs duty savings projects.

What You'll Do

As a Customs Due Diligence Specialist you will:

  • Ensure full compliance with all legal requirements always related to customs diligence and trade regulations.
  • Develop and lead process improvement projects using management tools, ensuring legal compliance while meeting customer expectations.
  • Monitor daily inventory of materials arriving in Calexico and those in transit from Carlsbad to calculate trailer cubic volume and prepare import load lists in accordance with legal cut-off times and customs requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Receiving department to verify material requirements in Calexico bins for proper import planning.
  • Work closely with raw material buyers to determine daily needs for urgent, special, or in-transit materials.
  • Collaborate with the MRO buyer to schedule the import of parts, spare components, tools, chemicals, samples, etc.
  • Identify in-bond materials to determine if prior inspection is required and prepare proper documentation for cancellation.
  • Confirm with carriers when special drivers are needed (e.g., for chemicals or wooden pallets) to ensure compliance with authority timelines and secure customs clearance.
  • Coordinate with Mexican suppliers to complete virtual operations within the first 10 business days of each month, avoiding penalties and ensuring legal compliance.
  • Maintain a professional attitude in all internal and external interactions, representing the company positively and adhering to policies and best practices.
  • Oversee return operations of finished goods to various destinations, coordinating transportation through the Calexico, CA port.
  • Promote team integration through team-building events, cultural initiatives, and employee engagement activities.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in international business, Foreign Trade, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in customs / production companies / outsourcing.
  • Solid knowledge of Mexican customs law, including Anexo 24 and Anexo 31.
  • Experience using Anexo 24 software for inventory control.
  • Strong background in foreign trade inventory management.
  • Proven experience managing IVA Certification and compliance audits.
  • Experience in customs operations (temporary, definitive, virtual, and transfers).
  • Familiarity with fixed asset control related to customs obligations.
  • Participation in reconciliation projects of Anexo balances.
  • Ability to identify and execute projects for customs duty savings.
  • Intermediate to advanced English (spoken and written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
  • Skilled in creating and delivering executive-level presentations.
  • Certifications in customs, trade compliance, or continuous are preferred.
  • Preferred experience in production companies, especially in medical, metal-mechanical, or electronics sectors.
