Function Description

The Senior Cloud Engineer (Azure/AWS) is the first contact for all things "cloud" for AXA Insurance Companies in Mexico, Brazil and Colombia. They have a wide spectrum of knowledge on Cloud Infrastructure, Azure/AWS administration, networking and security hardening in a global enterprise context. Their project involvement can reach from architecture review, over technical guidance, training, financial optimisation, development of reusable Infrastructure‑as‑Code modules to actual project implementation, depending on the needs of the customer. In everything they do, they are in constant collaboration with their team in Mexico, as well as with transversal support teams in Europe, the US and Asia.

Responsibilities
  • Support AXA insurance companies in Mexico, Colombia and Brazil migrating their business applications from local datacentres to the public cloud (PaaS and IaaS), from application analysis to solution design to actual infrastructure implementation.
  • Enhance and operate a complex, hybrid cloud environment that is running thousands of applications all over the globe, together with experts from Mexico, Europe and the US, following global architecture, product and security standards developed by the AXA Group.
  • Build platform and deployment automation based on GitHub Enterprise, Terraform, Azure/AWS IaaS & PaaS services and Kubernetes.
  • Design application and infrastructure architectures together with the local and global architecture and infrastructure teams.
  • Integrate cloud environments with existing monitoring and backup/DR solutions, as well as onboarding new cloud services and platforms.
  • Organise and execute in‑house cloud training workshops together with partners like Microsoft or Amazon, consulting development teams on cloud best practices, automation, cost optimisation, etc.
  • Work with local and global security and compliance teams to ensure safe and stable platform operations.
  • Support finance teams by providing meaningful, near‑real‑time reports and managing Power BI dashboards.
  • Deploy and maintain cloud IaaS and containerised resources using Terraform, and support during incidents and operational issues.
Technical Skills
  • At least 5 years of experience working with Microsoft Azure, especially with Azure VMs, Azure Storage, Azure Database & Data Analytics PaaS services.
  • Experience architecting and implementing CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments using Terraform and Azure DevOps.
  • Good knowledge of AWS administration, organisation and account management (AWS Organization, AWS Service Catalog), AWS Architecture principles.
  • Knowledge of common development tools (Git, GitHub, SonarQube, Confluence, Jira).
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python, …).
  • Good knowledge of AWS & Azure hybrid enterprise networking, VPC/Vnet, Private Endpoints, Peering, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect/Express Route.
  • Ideally first experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes or related container orchestration tools.
  • Basic experience of cloud governance in an Enterprise environment (incl. user and subscription management), AWS & Azure.
  • Basic knowledge of cloud cost optimisation strategies and security automation (DevSecOps).
  • English and Spanish – Excellent: professional level both in writing and speaking.
    Portuguese – Not required, but would be an advantage.

  • Comfortable discussing complex technical topics with non‑technical staff.
  • Used to working in an international context with teams from LATAM, US, Europe and Asia.
