The Associate Data Engineer is responsible for providing input into the design, development and operational support (in a DevOps delivery model) of the line of business and project-specific data applications.
Support Data Engineering Delivery: Assist in building and maintaining data solutions on the Snowflake platform, following best practices for performance, security, and scalability.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with business users and senior engineers to understand requirements and translate them into technical tasks.
Ensure Quality and Reliability: Contribute to smooth and controlled feature rollouts, adhering to governance and deployment standards to maintain stability and trust in data solutions.
Provide Operational Support: Help monitor and maintain existing data solutions, addressing issues and implementing enhancements to keep systems running efficiently and reliably.
Learn and Apply Standards: Adopt established guidelines for coding, data governance, and DevOps processes, contributing to continuous improvement.
Participate in Delivery Practices: Engage in planning and review activities to support timely and efficient delivery of new features and improvements.
Grow Expertise: Develop knowledge of Snowflake features (warehouses, tasks, data sharing) and adjacent technologies, with mentorship from senior team members.
Experience with Snowflake: Practical knowledge of core Snowflake features such as warehouses, schemas, stages, and tasks; familiarity with performance tuning and security basics.
Strong SQL Skills: Ability to write efficient queries, optimize performance, and implement transformations for analytics and reporting.
Programming and Automation: Experience with Python for data processing and automation; familiarity with version control tools like Git/GitHub for managing code and collaborating effectively.
Cloud Data Concepts: Understanding of cloud-based data architecture and services (AWS preferred), including storage (S3) and ETL orchestration (Glue, Lambda).
Data Governance Awareness: Basic understanding of access control models (RBAC), data privacy principles, and compliance considerations.
Problem-Solving and Optimization: Ability to troubleshoot data issues, improve workflows, and suggest enhancements for reliability and cost efficiency.
Collaboration and Communication: Comfortable working with distributed teams, documenting solutions, and explaining technical concepts clearly.
Continuous Learning Mindset: Eager to explore advanced Snowflake capabilities (Snowpark, dynamic tables), integration tools ( dbt , Fivetran ), and DevOps practices (CI/CD).
