Formación

  • 1–3 years’ experience in purchasing/sourcing/supplier management in a manufacturing environment.

Job Title: Associate Buyer

Department: Supply Chain

Reports to: Manager, Supply Chain

Midtronics has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Associate Buyer at our Chihuahua, Mexico site. This role, reporting to the Manager of Supply Chain, is responsible for new supplier sourcing, assisting with supplier development, and purchasing materials. Focus areas include PCBA, wire harnesses, injection molding, metal fabrication, and box-build assemblies globally with primary focus on activities in Mexico and Latin America.

Position Summary
  • Utilize MRP/ERP to monitor inventory for managed parts/commodities and determine material needs
  • Prepare RFQs and POs; analyze quotations and recommend awards
  • Assist with the development and onboarding of new suppliers in Mexico/Latin America
  • Monitor existing orders to ensure on-time delivery; expedite/de-expedite as required to support production
  • Hold regular supplier meetings/calls (Spanish/English) to address delivery, quality, and responsiveness
  • Partner with Engineering/Quality on build-to-print items; review BOMs and basic engineering drawings; coordinate samples/FAI as needed
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data (prices, MOQs, lead times, terms) in the ERP and keep open orders current
  • Participating in periodic evening calls with overseas teams and suppliers
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Technical degree (Supply Chain, Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Business) or equivalent experience in supply chain/operations
  • 1–3 years’ experience in purchasing/sourcing/supplier management in a manufacturing environment (internships/co-ops count)
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP purchasing processes
  • Bilingual Spanish/English—comfortable leading supplier communications in both languages
  • Ability to understand BOMs and navigate drawings/part lists
  • Strong negotiation, follow-up, time-management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to visit supplier sites in Mexico; limited travel within Latin America/US as needed
  • Strong knowledge of USMCA regulations and their impact on cross-border trade
  • Travel up to 10%
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Experience purchasing or sourcing PCBA, wire harnesses, plastics (injection molding), metals (sheet metal/machining/stamping), box-build/CM
  • Familiarity with FAI/PPAP and supplier quality hand-offs
  • Experience with Epicor (or similar ERP)
  • APICS/ASCM coursework or certification (CPIM/CSCP)
  • Knowledge of Incoterms and cross-border documentation
