A leading coatings company in Querétaro is looking for an Applications Engineer & Correlation Lead. You will ensure the application process of automotive coatings and lead activities among diverse teams. Ideal candidates will have a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related fields, advanced English proficiency, and at least 2 years of experience in automotive paint processes. The role involves leading correlation strategies, managing measurements, and supporting product launches.

As an Applications Engineer & Correlation Lead, you will Responsible for ensuring the application process of automotive coatings through customer approval. Lead activities among diverse teams involved in the correlation process before or after launch. Ensure with internal and external customers. Responsible for training on concepts related to the correlation process and defects derived from the application process.

You will report to S&T Customer Support Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of correlation and application strategies to support safe launch goals for the Auto OEM business, covering both locally manufactured products and transfers from PPG sister locations.
  • Manage measurements related to Launch and Correlation results, ensuring agreement on internal and external customer expectations.
  • Oversee the application of scientific, experimental, and statistical tools to identify causes and resolve issues associated with correlation and application processes.
  • Support and participate in customer in-line trials to validate product performance and ensure successful launches and correlations.
  • Conduct periodic validation of correlation factors between PPG SJR and customer facilities to ensure consistency and compliance with required technical standards.
  • Update the correlation factor database, preventing claims, deviations, or charges related to non-compliant launches or correlation processes.
  • Improve optimization, innovation, and continuous improvement projects across the new product launch and correlation workflows.
  • Develop and increase spray programs to ensure repeatability, robustness, and simplicity for production teams and design spray processes.
  • Support achievement of correlation targets for Automotive OEM paint, including monthly volume, simplified sprayouts, and process capability goals.
  • Partner with the Technical Development Center to troubleshoot application issues through customer line simulations, new process creation, and design programs for new color launches.
  • Provide technical support for auto parts correlation work, line support, and laboratory requests, ensuring and accurate responses.
  • Support product transfers (plant-to-plant) by conducting capacity analyses and developing new internal and external processes that ensure quality, repeatability, and reproducibility.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Advanced English.
  • 2+ years of experience in automotive paint lines and application booths.
  • Knowledge of color theory, formulation, measurement instruments, and appearance evaluation.
  • Proficiency with statistical software (JMP, Minitab).
  • 2+ years of experience in spray application processes (primer, basecoat, clearcoat) across different technologies.
  • Experience in paint correlation processes and troubleshooting.
