The Advanced Virtual Analysis Engineer will work within Propulsion Systems Virtual Engineering team and collaborate with Product Release Centers (PRCs) and with other Stellantis cross-functional teams to support product development and methodological activities through CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) in one of the following disciplines : structural, crash and dynamics. This position reports to the Virtual Analysis Lead of the discipline. Robust technical, interpersonal and team leadership skills are essential.
Activities
The responsibility of the Advanced Virtual Analysis Engineer will include, but not limited to :
- Develop and validate FE (Finite Element) and MBD (Multi-Body Dynamics) models
- Execute simulation on Propulsion Systems components / sub-systems and systems. Depending on the discipline of application, the coverage will be on one of the following :
- structural (stress and fatigue) and crash (impact analysis under multiple abuse conditions)
- mechanical systems dynamics (vibrations, loads and Boundary Conditions for durability, functionality and NVH studies)
- Perform optimization analysis aimed to ensure the best trade-off over performances (durability, NVH, weight, ..)
- Execute detailed studies including root cause analysis on issues and enablers identification as well as correlation activities aimed to demonstrate the virtual analysis confidence level
- Coordinate CAE validations plans for propulsion systems program(s) including analysis scope / target agreement with stakeholders, timely delivery of status vs target and proactive identification / validation of enablers
- Technical synthesis, reporting and communication with clear takeaways, executive summary and, if needed, risk mitigation plan
- Direct interaction with STLA stakeholders for all the steering activities : input data collection, assumptions validation, results revision and communication.
Requirements
- Master of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Applied Physics, or related Engineering field)
- Thorough knowledge of the English language including both written and oral communication
- Advanced knowledge of CAE tools for pre-processing (like Hyperworks, ANSA), Structural analysis (like Abaqus, NASTRAN) and, depending on the discipline of application, explicit analysis (LS-Dyna), MutiBody simulation (Simdrive / Excite / Adams / Masta)
- General knowledge of commercial CAD packaging including NX and Teamcenter
- Thorough knowledge of Propulsion Systems design with focus on ICE, conventional / electrified transmission, EDM (Electric Drive Module) and batteries
- Effective communications skills and analytical thinking
