The Veritas Backup SME is responsible for designing, managing, and supporting enterprise backup and recovery solutions. The role focuses on Veritas NetBackup to ensure reliable data protection, backup performance, and disaster recovery across on‑prem, virtual, and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

Backup & Recovery

• Design, implement, and manage Veritas NetBackup solutions
• Create backup policies, schedules, and retention plans
• Perform backup, restore, and disaster recovery testing
• Monitor backup jobs and ensure successful completion

System Design & Implementation

• Architect scalable backup solutions using Veritas NetBackup / Backup Exec
• Configure, tune, and optimize backup environments
• Support data migration, storage optimization, and DR initiatives
• Ensure backup solutions meet security and infrastructure standards

Troubleshooting & Performance

• Identify and resolve backup failures and performance issues
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents
• Optimize network, storage, and server performance related to backups

Automation & Monitoring

• Automate backup processes to improve reliability and efficiency
• Configure monitoring and alerts for proactive issue detection
• Track performance metrics and system health

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain backup policies, procedures, and technical documentation
• Provide reports on backup status, capacity, recovery performance, and risks
• Support audit and compliance requirements
