RINA is currently recruiting for a Testing Laboratory Technician to join its office in Romawithin the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division.
Mission
At RINA Consulting - CSM S.p.A., the Full-Scale testing laboratory is dedicated to performing rigorous testing of materials and components within the Energy and broader Industrial sectors. Our objective is to accurately replicate in-service mechanical and environmental conditions on various scales. This is achieved through a combination of advanced testing machines and specialised equipment, meticulously designed for loading and conditioning test samples. The role of our technicians is vital; they will engage in a variety of tasks including the preparation and execution of tests, monitoring the processes, and detailed reporting of test data to ensure the highest standards are met and maintained.
Key Accountabilities
- Receive, label, and measure test specimens and materials with precision to ensure data integrity.
- Instrument test specimens using sensors such as strain gauges, thermocouples, and pressure transducers to gather comprehensive data during tests.
- Assemble test specimens with necessary equipment for utilisation in specialised testing machines or custom-built test configurations to fulfil various testing requirements.
- Conduct tests according to predefined procedures established by laboratory leadership, ensuring adherence to international standards or specific customer requirements, while meticulously monitoring and recording all essential test parameters using the laboratory's dedicated software.
- Disassemble test specimens post-evaluation, conducting dimensional measurements and assessments of mechanical properties to ascertain performance against expectations.
- Communicate progress on testing to supervisors and clients proactively to keep all stakeholders informed throughout the testing process.
- Maintain testing equipment in optimal condition and assist in procuring laboratory supplies to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Uphold safety guidelines at all times, ensuring a clean, orderly, and secure working environment for everyone involved in the laboratory operations.
Education
High School Diploma/GED in Mechanical Studies or Electronics
Qualifications
- Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent in mechanical or electrical fields (Perito Tecnico Industriale) to meet educational prerequisites.
- Familiarity with measuring sensors and computerised data acquisition systems is essential for effective test execution.
- Basic proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to facilitate communication within an international working environment.
- Attitude for team working.
- Willingness to work in shifts, ensuring operational flexibility and coverage as required for testing processes.
