A pioneering edTech firm in Italy seeks a Systems Engineer to manage and optimize its IT infrastructure with a focus on network and VoIP systems. The ideal candidate will have excellent networking skills and proficiency in VOIP platforms. Responsibilities include overseeing IT services, maintaining security configurations, and supporting audits. Certifications in networking and VOIP are preferred. This position is mainly during business hours with some after-hours support required.

Overview

We are on the lookout for a talented Systems Engineer, with a focus on network infrastructure and VoIP systems, to join our intimate yet dynamic team. This role is tailored for an individual with a strong background in designing and managing complex IT infrastructures. As a Systems Engineer, you’ll be a key player in the reengineering of the Group's IT infrastructure, spanning multiple interconnected locations. Your focus will be on optimizing overall efficiency—especially in VoIP systems—with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity.

While most work is conducted during standard business hours, please note that a small percentage of activities may be required during evenings or weekends, typically for planned interventions, critical updates, or infrastructure maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Report to the IT Service Manager and manage and maintain a distributed IT infrastructure (on-prem, cloud and multi sites), including physical and virtual servers, networking, storage systems, and VoIP platforms.


• Administer and support enterprise firewall solutions and network security configurations.


• Oversee and maintain Active Directory environments, group policies, and authentication services.


• Ensure continuous operation and performance of IT services, identifying and resolving system issues promptly.


• Support IT-related audits, ensuring compliance with ISO 2XXXX standards.


• Support the Cybersecurity department in remediating identified vulnerabilities to enhance the overall security of perimeter systems and endpoint controls.

Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge in networking, including configuration of L3 switches, routers, and firewalls.


• Proficiency in VOIP systems, specifically FreePBX/Asterisk/Sangoma.


• Solid understanding of server and storage infrastructures.


• Good grasp of Active Directory domains, DNS, DHCP, and GPO.


• Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving aptitude and reverse engineering skills.


• Strong ability to create technical documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in networking and VOIP systems are preferred.
