A leading food safety consultancy is seeking a Senior Food Safety & Quality Engineering Manager in Piemonte, Italy. This role entails oversight of Engineering activities related to Food Safety & Quality, ensuring compliance with standards, and training teams on Hygienic Design principles. The ideal candidate has over 15 years in the Food Industry, a Master's degree, and experience in global roles.

Competenze

  • Having previous experience in global roles in large international FMCG.

SENIOR FOOD SAFETY & QUALITY ENGINEERING MANAGER

The resource will be part of Industrial & Supply Chain Food Safety & Quality Department

Aim

The resource will be responsible for providing oversight, support, and advice related to all Engineering activities concerning Food Safety & Quality. The candidate will ensure FSQ requirements are integrated into Engineering standards and guidelines and will also train both the FSQ and Engineering teams on these requirements and Hygienic Design principles

Main Responsibilities
  • Define the governance throughout the life cycle of projects managed by the Engineering function to ensure FSQ requirements are met. Support project managers in ensuring FSQ standards are adhered to from design to hand-over for large projects.
  • Assist project engineers in ensuring compliance of new machines with industry guidelines on Hygienic Design and internal FSQ requirements. Support factories identifying gaps in Hygienic Design, coaching and training factory teams to facilitate the resolution of these gaps and improvements.
  • Formalize FSQ requirements on Hygienic Design for equipment and buildings, updating Engineering documents to include these requirements.
  • Maintaining an internal database on international FSQ engineering and Hygienic Design standards.
  • Support the formalization of procedures for FSQ requirements for Equipment Suppliers for the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and assist in these tests.
  • Support the elaboration of risk assessments and providing final validation of machines, working jointly with Engineering and Industrial functions to determine mitigation activities for identified gaps.
  • Work with Health & Safety to ensure FSQ/Hygienic Design Requirements of specific equipment or installation layout do not conflict with H&S requirements.
  • Raising awareness on the importance of FSQ and Hygienic Design Concepts across the Engineering department will be a continuous effort.
  • Leverage on information provided by the group to train and coach employees and managers in these concepts, conducting training sessions and participating in FSQ non-conformities investigations related to machines and equipment with hygienic design gaps.
  • Interact with leading equipment suppliers to raise awareness of hygienic design and engineering, developing guidance and solutions.
  • Participate in relevant external bodies and working groups related to Hygienic Design to develop the company’s expertise.
Requirements
  • Master’s Degree with background in field such as Food Process Engineering, Food Safety & Quality or similar
  • Solid knowledge of food processing technologies, Hygienic Design as well as Food Safety & Quality
  • Experience with quality management systems and food safety regulations
  • More than 15 years of experience in the Food Industry
  • Having previous experience in global roles in large international FMCG
