Description
The Project Engineer is the technical leader for the project, responsible for guaranteeing the completion of activities through coordination of Work Package Leaders (WPLs) for subsystems.
Main responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the delivery of design work packages on schedule and within budget
- Leading project monitoring and control activities, including schedule management, MPR updates, meeting minutes, risk register maintenance, and change order management
- Prioritizing and monitoring software problem reports and executing tasks within engineering and software development areas
- Tracking performance and analyzing the achievement of key project goals
- Conducting regular meetings with clients to clarify requirements and ensure timely delivery
- Collecting KPIs to monitor project status
- Maintaining and monitoring the project budget
- Managing TXCR through proper creation by WPLs
- Planning design reviews during the project lifecycle to define GO/NOGO steps
- Facilitating scope and requirement discussions with technical teams and customers
- Documenting and reporting project progress to stakeholders and clients
- Participating actively in defining the overall technical solution
- Ensuring project objectives are communicated and aligned with the schedule
- Maintaining proper Configuration Management, including document management and transmittal processes
- Delegating tasks according to team members' skills and experience
- Following up on requirement specifications and integration compliance within the project and system disciplines
Required Skills / Knowledge
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a project engineer or lead systems/software engineer in large software control system applications
- Excellent knowledge of German Railway signaling and control systems
- Experience with basic project management
- Budget management skills
- Schedule monitoring and development
- Risk register maintenance
- Resource and task management
- Extensive understanding of software development lifecycles, delivery, and HW/SW integration
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera), requirements management systems, and configuration tools
- Experience managing small to medium-sized projects and teams
- Leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams
- Ability to multitask across multiple projects
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
Desired Skills / Knowledge
- Experience in rail or rail transit domain (preferred)
- Experience supporting Bids and Proposals (preferred)
- Knowledge of systems architecture design
- Experience with mission-critical control systems
- Leadership experience in functional or project management roles
