RINA is currently recruiting for a Major Accident Hazards Engineer to join its office in Livorno, Genoa or Rozzano (Italy) within the Plant Engineering Division.

Mission

This role of Major Accident Hazards Engineer plays a critical part in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of Major Risks plants, ultimately contributing to the protection of personnel, the environment, and assets.

Key Accountabilities

Assessing Major Risk Activities

  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments for new plants or plant renewals in accordance with Seveso law regulations.
  • Identifying potential major hazards and assessing their impact on plant operations and surrounding environment.
  • Providing consultancy on preventive or mitigation actions to reduce identified risks.
  • Compiling safety reports and ensuring adherence to Seveso law requirements.
  • Chair and manage HAZOP and SIL assessment workshops.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Engineering General

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in risk assessment, fire prevention, and safety management
  • Professional certification or equivalent experience in the field (e.g., CFPA Europe Diploma in Fire Prevention, NEBOSH Certificate)
  • Solid knowledge of Seveso regulations and experience with major hazard installations
  • Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and define effective mitigation strategies
  • Experience in fire-fighting system design and ensuring compliance with fire safety standards
  • Understanding of occupational health and safety regulations and related procedures
  • Fluency in Italian and a good command of English (both spoken and written)
