A multinational transport company is seeking a Group Government and Public Affairs Specialist to manage institutional relationships and monitor regulatory developments. Responsibilities
  • The Group Government and Public Affairs Specialist supports the strategic positioning of Hitachi Rail’s Business Unit by managing institutional relationships and monitoring regulatory and geopolitical developments in countries where the company has business interests. The role ensures alignment with corporate compliance standards, particularly anti-bribery and integrity policies.
  • Support the Senior Vice President in managing institutional relations with:
    • National and local governments (ministries, parliaments, agencies)
    • Regulatory bodies
    • Public institutions and relevant stakeholders
  • Monitor and analyze the political, regulatory, and geopolitical landscape in key markets
  • Prepare briefings, reports, and strategic analyses to support decision-making
  • Coordinate with internal functions (Legal, Compliance, Business Development, etc.) to ensure consistency and alignment in external engagements
  • Represent the company in institutional meetings and public affairs events, as delegated
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in full compliance with internal policies and applicable laws, especially anti-bribery and anti-corruption regulations
Requirements
  • Education: Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Public Administration, Communication, Humanistic fields of study or any equivalent background.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of experience in government affairs, institutional relations, public policy, or regulatory affairs, preferably in multinational or highly regulated sectors (e.g., transport, energy, infrastructure).
  • Skills and Competencies: Strong understanding of political and institutional dynamics at national and international levels; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Strategic thinking and analytical mindset; High integrity and commitment to compliance; Ability to work in a matrix and multicultural environment; Fluency in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a similar role within the transport or infrastructure sector; Familiarity with EU institutions and / or international regulatory frameworks; Experience in managing stakeholder engagement strategy
