Electrical Systems and Automation Surveyor

We are looking for a Surveyor to join our NB&CMC team in Italy, reporting to the local Line Management. The NB&CMC team is a part of DNV Maritime, Region West Europe, Area Iberia, Italy and Malta.

The Area includes all maritime business activities and consists of ~60 employees in 11 locations. The Area operates with two Service Lines: Newbuilding and Certification‑Verification of materials and components (NB&CMC); Fleet in Service (FiS) organised as part of business Unit FiS West Europe.

Our customers require a wide range of certification activities: from materials and welding procedures to pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, gears, thrusters, electrical installations, automation systems, lifting appliances, complex offshore packages. Classification of big and complex ships, from design phase to final delivery, is part of our service portfolio.

From this traditional background, we started a journey covering also advanced future technology—fuel cells, new types of turbines, advanced electrical drives, and lithium batteries for ship propulsion, to name a few. Main responsibilities
  • Managing our clients together with other relevant parts of our organization.
  • Perform certification and verification of materials and components at the various manufacturers in Italy, under class and non‑class related regimes and associated processes.
  • Occasionally be part of DNV team(s) surveying our Newbuilding project(s) in the Region, as needed during the relevant project phases.
Position Qualifications
  • Master/Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Systems Engineering.
  • Knowledge/specialization in integrated safety control and monitoring systems will be a plus.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Team player attitude with positive mindset.
  • Problem‑solving approach towards our customers (internal and external).
  • Very good communication skills, verbal and in writing, both in English and Italian.
  • Willingness to learn and always develop/differentiate/expand own competence and skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, independently and self‑organized.
  • Result‑oriented: responsible for professional and consistent deliveries throughout the assigned projects.
  • Eagerness to support new processes and tools to drive digitalization.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 50% of the time, in Italy and occasionally within the Area/Region.
  • Availability to relocate depending on business needs.
