Overview

Johnson & Johnson is hiring for a Director Data and Tools – Shockwave Medical to join our team. The position is FULLY REMOTE AND CAN SIT ANYWHERE IN THE US.

Fueled by innovation at the intersection of biology and technology, we’re developing the next generation of smarter, less invasive, more personalized treatments. Ready to join a team that’s pioneering the development and commercialization of Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) to treat complex calcified cardiovascular disease. Our Shockwave Medical portfolio aims to establish a new standard of care for medical device treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through its differentiated and proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque.

Position Overview

The Director, Data and Tools is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and implementation of data-driven tools and analytics to enhance commercial decision-making. This role will oversee the optimization of data infrastructure, business intelligence platforms, and commercial analytics solutions to support Sales, Marketing, Market Access, and Finance teams. The Director will drive operational efficiencies, improve data accessibility, and ensure commercial teams are equipped with the insights necessary for strategic growth.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and execution of data strategies that enhance commercial operations and decision-making.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of business intelligence tools, dashboards, and analytics platforms.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Market Access teams to ensure data-driven insights align with business objectives.
  • Manage the data governance framework, collaborating with the data integrity team to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Identify and integrate advanced analytics, AI, and automation solutions to improve operational efficiencies in collaboration with the advanced analytics team.
  • Work closely with IT and external vendors to implement scalable data solutions that support business growth.
  • Partner with Finance and Commercial Leadership to provide strategic insights for forecasting, pricing, and market segmentation.
  • Oversee the development of self-service analytics tools that empower commercial teams with real-time data access.
  • Lead a team of analysts and data specialists, providing mentorship and driving a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Manage workload and seek additional resources when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or commercial operations within the medical device, medtech, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong expertise in business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and data visualization tools.
  • Experience with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce), data warehousing, and SQL-based analytics.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, AI applications, and predictive analytics in commercial strategy.
  • Proven track record in data governance, compliance, and security best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex data sets into actionable business insights.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is: US: $146,000 - $251,850 / Bay Area: $167,000 - $289,800

Pay Transparency

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees and/or eligible dependents are eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program. Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits: Vacation – 120 hours per calendar year; Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – 56 hours per calendar year; Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – 13 days per calendar year; Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth / adoption / foster care of a child; Condolence Leave – 30 days for an immediate family member : 5 days for an extended family member; Caregiver Leave – 10 days; Volunteer Leave – 4 days; Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours.
