A unique retreat center in Tuscany is seeking a Development Coordinator. This role is vital for expanding the donor base and implementing effective fundraising strategies. The ideal candidate will bring valuable experience in development, major gifts, and capital campaigns. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and hospitality, ensuring ongoing support for the organization's mission. This position reports to the Executive Director and involves significant collaboration with staff to enhance overall fundraising efforts.

Development Coordinator JD

Lutheran Valley Retreat Employees shall first be servants of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, manifest a spirit of hospitality and service in graciously dealing with service recipients, and all other people, and a strong sense of commitment to teamwork with other employees.

Qualification: The Development Director shall be a person committed to the mission of LVR. She/he shall have at least five years of development experience and, preferable, experience with major gifts and capital campaigns. Background with LVR will be very helpful.

General Responsibilities
  1. Expand the donor base and annual fund program to individuals, organizations, businesses and foundations.
  2. Implement the capital campaign effort among regional constituents.
  3. Participate in a complete planned giving program.
  4. Work with other staff in the production of development publications, printed materials and A-V resources.
Specific Responsibilities
A. Personal cultivation for and solicitation of gifts from individuals and families:
  1. To conduct regular and systematic person to person calls on donors and prospects to present the charitable needs and to seek gifts. These gifts may take the form of annual fund gifts, Capital gifts and planned gifts.
  2. To assist the staff in the recruitment of volunteers who will conduct solicitation visits.
  3. To work closely with the financial advisors and/or professional gift planners in assisting donors, as needed, in the planning of their gifts.
  4. To consistently promote annual and planned gift recognition programs.
  5. To ensure that all prospect and donor assignment records are properly maintained and that all gifts are recorded.
  6. To ensure that proper, prompt and genuine thanks and recognition is provided to all donors.
B. Capital Campaign
  1. To be actively involved in the development of all capital/special gifts projects and programs.
  2. To supervise and participate in the implementation of all capital/special gifts efforts.
  3. To develop print materials in cooperation with campaign consultants and other media related to capital/special gift efforts.
  4. To recruit, train, supervise and support campaign volunteers for their efforts on behalf of the campaign.
  5. To actively participate in cultivation and solicitation of campaign contributions.
E. Support Functions
  1. To assist in the production of print materials, including newsletters, brochures direct mail solicitation donor communications, annual reports and AV resources.
  2. Work with other staff to seek their support and participation in the development program.
  3. Serve as a member of the LVR Leadership Team.
Support

The Development Coordinator is responsible to the Executive Director. The Business Manager and Marketing Coordinator shall work in support of the Development Officer and coordinate office functions in support of the total development program, including gift thank you’s and data entry completed by the Business Manager and Marketing Manager.

Performance Review

Conducted annually by the Executive Director.
