About the Position

AWS Infrastructure Services leads the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. As a Data Center Technician you will be the primary resolver for a range of data center infrastructure issues, including hardware, fiber, networking, and related problems. You will work in the Data Center Operations (DCO) team overseeing the operation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure and hardware for AWS data centers.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose hardware and network problems and perform physical repairs.
• Respond to events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and perform root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Manually handle and lift equipment (weight limits per regulations).
• Work rotating shifts (morning, late, night) and weekends to support the 24/7 data center environment.
• Engage other solution groups on more complex problems to drive resolution.
• Own and promote safety initiatives, maintaining the highest safety standards.
• Travel locally up to 10% of the time; requires a valid EU driving licence.

Requirements

• Experience in IT hardware troubleshooting.
• Completed formal education, apprenticeship, or training in an IT‑related field.
• Basic knowledge of Linux and network protocols; experience in data center environments.
• B1 level proficiency in English.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with fiber optic installations.
• Knowledge of power and cooling systems.
• Strong safety awareness and a commitment to a world‑class safety culture.

Location & Schedule

The position is 100% onsite in a data center located outside Milan, in a remote area where access via public transport is limited. Work is shift‑based, covering morning, late, and night periods, including weekends.
