Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a skilled Data Center Engineering Technician to deploy, operate, and maintain large‑scale, high‑density data center facilities.

Job Description

The Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team manages electrical and mechanical systems, control/fire‑fighting systems, and related projects at AWS data centers. The role requires a highly driven, self‑managed individual who demonstrates initiative, proactive problem‑solving, and strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills. You will report to the Data Center Engineering Operations Facilities Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and maintain the highest standards for safety and promote a world‑class safety culture.
• Drive continuous improvement of infrastructure through standardization of procedures and policies, delivering performance against agreed metrics.
• Enable the operations organization to deliver 100% uptime on all customer‑supporting infrastructure.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve operational excellence.
• Ensure preventive maintenance of site‑critical infrastructure is planned and executed to the highest standards.
• Operate facility monitoring and supervision via BMS, PMS, walkthroughs, etc.
• Participate in the delivery of build‑outs and retrofits of data center infrastructure.
• React and respond to any customer‑impacting event on electrical or mechanical components.
• Review incident reports, document trend summaries, and recommend actions.
• Draft, update, and maintain method statements, SOPs, emergency response procedures, and preventive maintenance programs.

Basic Qualifications

• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Apprentice or trade certification in an electrical field, with key electrical competencies and knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, controls).
• Valid driving licence in Italy.
• 3+ years of experience in operations and on‑call support for data‑center facilities or mission‑critical plants.
• Undergraduate degree in a technical field (EE, MechE, Industrial Engineering).
• Project management experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with diesel generators, switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, fire detection systems, and building automation.
• Experience managing external vendors and supplier relationships.
• Strong problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis skills.
