A global engineering leader is looking for an Automation & Control System Engineer in Milan. This role involves reviewing P&IDs, developing diagrams, and ensuring technical compliance. Candidates should possess a Master’s Degree in Automation Engineering and have at least 6 years of relevant experience in the LNG and Petrochemical industries. Purpose of the position: As Automation & Control System Engineer you will be part of the Energy Carriers Business Line, within the Smaut Department.

Responsibilities
  • Read, analyze, review and mechanize P&IDs
  • Develop and review Block Diagrams, Control Narratives, Sequence Flow Charts, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Instrument Loop Diagrams
  • Populate and maintain Project Control Systems I/Os Databases
  • Interpret and apply codes & standards and customer design requirements for Control Systems design products
  • Develop Discipline Specifications and Requisitions
  • Evaluate Specifications and Vendor Quotations
  • Support Packages/Mechanical Systems Department in reviewing supplier data to determine control and instrumentation functional requirements
  • Review Vendor Functional Design Specifications/Drawings/Procedures/Manuals for technical compliance
  • Attend and perform Control Systems FAT/IFAT and SAT and witness vendor compliance with project requirements
  • Interact with Client representatives, Vendors and Subcontractors on technical topics
  • Support proposal efforts in bids by preparing man-hour estimates and planning activities
What are we looking for?

Education: Master’s Degree in Automation & Control System Engineering or equivalent

Experience: Minimum of 6/8 years related experience in LNG/Gas Process/Refinery and Petrochemical industries. Prior experience as a Senior Control Systems Engineer with a reputable International EPC contractor on mid to large scale projects. Detailed knowledge of Control and Safety Systems (DCS, ESD/SIS, F&G, PLCs, MMS, CCS, RTU, SCADA). Familiar with Control and Safety Systems codes and standards both domestic and international. SPI (Smart Plant Instrumentation) knowledge.

Languages: Excellent written and spoken English (B2 level)

Technical Skills: Detailed knowledge and direct experience with Control and Safety Systems (DCS, ESD/SIS, F&G, PLCs, MMS, CCS, RTU, SCADA). Familiar with related codes and standards. SPI knowledge.

IT Skills: Good skills in using the main computer software programs

Travel: You will have the opportunity to travel abroad based on project assignments, with availability to travel for short and long periods in Italy and abroad.
