What it's like to work here

Chartwell was the much-loved Churchill family home and the place from which Sir Winston drew inspiration from 1924 until the end of his life. Many of the rooms remain the same as when the Churchill family lived at Chartwell and today it is our job to share the stories of their lives here as well as care for this much-loved home and their cherished possessions. The team at Chartwell ensure that visitors have a great time at this property, and create events to delve further into the life of Sir Winston Churchill.

Reporting to the Experience & Visitor Programming Manager working in a team of 3 people as part of a wider team. with line management responsibilities.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be actively seeking ways to attract and interest the local community, creating opportunities for everyone to get involved. You’ll work together with your colleagues on site, devising and running a programme of activities. Through this programme, you’ll be connecting people to nature, boosting their wellbeing and inspiring them to care for the world around them. Some of these activities will be run by you and a team of volunteers, others by partner organisations with whom you’ve built up productive working relationships.

You’ll get hands-on with developing and testing our plan of activities. And you will take the lead in putting the plan into practice: researching, testing and evaluating in your first year in the job to help deepen our understanding of what people want from us.

Alongside our Volunteer and Community Officer, you’ll help build partnerships that are mutually beneficial, that will strengthen our connections and broaden our horizons. And you’ll look to create opportunities for individuals and businesses to join in with your plans as they develop.

You may need to work the occasional weekends and evenings.

Who we're looking for

We’d love to hear from you if you’re:

• used to working with partners (community or commercial) to produce high-quality events and activities for people, to do with the arts, culture or natural environment
• a creative leader, adept at finding new ways to connect people with nature and places
• able to build, maintain and develop productive partnerships in order to give all kinds of people ways to get involved
• someone with great people skills
• experienced in analysing audience data, and using it to improve and develop ways to connect people to the arts, culture, nature or the outdoors.
