Position Summary:
The Welder is responsible for Mig, Tig, and Stick welding techniques.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Examine workpieces for defects and measure them with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear using hand and power tools.
- Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
- Operate vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment such as forklifts and passenger vehicles.
- Control machines and processes, using control mechanisms or physical activity (excluding computers or vehicles).
- Read blueprints and use measuring tools like tape measures, levels, and squares.
- Select appropriate gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches based on load weights, sizes, and work schedules.
- Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces using chain falls, gin poles, and other equipment.
- Manipulate suspended loads to maneuver over, under, and around obstacles using multi-point suspension techniques.
- Install ground rigging for yarding lines and attach chokers to logs and lines.
- Align, level, and anchor machinery.
- Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support heavy materials.
- Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging and supporting structures using hand and power tools.
- Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures with bolts and clamps.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- At least three (3) years of welding experience
- At least three (3) years of construction industry experience
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment, including hand, power, and pneumatic tools
- Welding certification
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
This is a physically demanding, hands-on role requiring activities such as crawling, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing, stooping, and standing for long periods. Must have good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. Work may be outdoors in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
