What difference will you make?

As a Volunteer Event Manager, you’ll help shape the way our community connects, understands, and supports one another. Your events will create vital spaces where unhoused individuals feel seen, heard, and supported—and where broader audiences can learn, engage, and take action. Through your efforts, people facing housing insecurity will gain access to resources, support, and a sense of belonging. At the same time, your work will educate the public, challenge harmful stereotypes, and foster empathy and inclusion. Every event you plan—whether it's a drop-in information session, an anti-racism workshop, or a community gathering—will contribute to a more connected and compassionate city. You’ll play a key part in breaking down isolation and building bridges across lines of race, class, and lived experience. By volunteering with us, you won’t just help run events—you’ll help change narratives, build trust, and move us closer to a world where everyone has a place to belong.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is organized, proactive, and passionate about social justice. Ideally, you have experience managing or coordinating events—particularly in a nonprofit or community setting—and can provide a case study or example of an event you've led or helped deliver. You should feel comfortable working independently and as part of a small team, with strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs. Experience engaging with marginalized or diverse communities is a plus, as is a flexible, problem-solving mindset. Most importantly, you care deeply about inclusion, anti-racism, and supporting unhoused individuals. What will you be doing?

We’re looking for a Volunteer Event Manager to help us plan and deliver meaningful community events that support our mission of bridging communities, preventing racism, and assisting unhoused individuals. You’ll lead the organization of public-facing events such as awareness workshops, drop-in information sessions, and collaborative outreach initiatives. Your key deliverable will be a successfully planned and executed event (or series of events) that reflects our values and engages diverse audiences. You’ll work closely with our core team, including outreach volunteers and partner organizations, and receive support and guidance throughout. This role is flexible and can be tailored to your strengths and availability. Whether you have ideas for virtual events, on-the-ground campaigns, or creative collaborations, we’re open to shaping this opportunity together.
