Are you a current Elekta employee?

Please click here to apply through our internal career site Find Jobs - Elekta.

Want to join a team with a mission to improve and save lives?

We continually look for motivated and skilled individuals who are interested in supporting our customers – healthcare professionals who use our products to help patients and their communities.

We currently have the following opportunity available - please contact us for more details!

We don’t just build technology. We build hope for everyone dealing with Cancer.

Are you passionate about creating exceptional user experiences through evidence-based insights? We’re looking for a UX Researcher to join our team for a 4-month contract (salary prorated – extension possible).

In this role, you’ll take a hands‑on approach to research, delivering user‑centred insights that shape high‑quality designs and ensure usability engineering compliance. You’ll work closely with our UX Researchers and collaborate with design verticals—Industrial Design, UX Design, and UX Development—as well as stakeholders in Product Management, Delivery, and Engineering.

This position requires on‑site presence at our Crawley office three days per week, offering you the chance to work alongside a talented team and make a real impact.

What you’ll do at Elekta:

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Contribute to the definition of usability strategy for new products and new product releases following regulatory guidelines and Elekta standards.
  • Plan, conduct, facilitate and document contextual studies, interviews, surveys, task and use‑error analyses, user reviews, heuristic evaluations, or usability testing for a feature, product, or workflow. Support moderation, note‑taking, and reporting in larger workflow‑level evaluations that are led by more senior UX researchers.
  • Contribute to building Radiation Therapy (RT) domain understanding through visualised user personas, user profiles, user journeys, user task flows, and representations of use environment (social, physical, technical).
  • Use understanding of RT user groups, their tasks, and user needs to guide design decisions, shape the user experiences, and avoid use errors in medical devices.
  • Actively communicate user needs and user insights to designers, review design versions and provide feedback to improve designs.
  • Summarise and document research insights into presentations, present the results and facilitate decision making based on research insights.
  • Manage Elekta’s reputation and positive experiences towards internal and external test participants.
  • Familiar with Elekta QMS processes on a high level. Build further understanding on how different functions and activities play a part in the product creation process.
The right stuff:
  • Comfortable with continuous learning and working with detailed clinical knowledge.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Ability to adapt and remain curious and receptive to others' ideas and perspectives.
  • Excellent time‑management and multi‑tasking ability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in a cross‑functional team.
  • Ability to work under supervision or guidance by other design professionals.
What you bring:

We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every requirement—your unique skills and experiences might be exactly what we’re looking for!

  • Masters degree in Human Factors Engineering, Human‑Computer Interaction, experimental or cognitive psychology, cognitive engineering or User‑Centred Design.
  • Good understanding of medical device regulations and compliance is a mandatory criteria for this role.
  • Knowledge base acquired from 2+ years of experience as an individual contributor in human factors, usability, or UX research.
  • Experience of working in the human factors engineering of medical devices (or other complex devices in a regulated field) is essential.
  • Good general understanding of UX research methods, and the ability to compare and choose suitable methods for studies, analysis, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in different UX research methods like contextual studies, interviews, surveys, task and use‑error analyses, user reviews, heuristic evaluations, and usability testing.
  • Basic academic writing skills and the ability to follow templates in documentation.
  • Good knowledge of usability engineering and risk management standards and guidelines (e.g. IEC 62366, FDA HF guidelines, ISO 14971).
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and common workshopping tools (like Miro, FigJam, LucidChart).
  • Good understanding of agile principles and agile product development practices (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Knowledge of large‑scale agile practices (SAFe) is preferred, but not essential.
  • Employees must be fluent in the English language (reading, speaking, writing, and comprehension).
What you’ll get:

In this role, you will work for a higher purpose; hope for everyone dealing with cancer, and for everyone regardless of where in the world, to have access to the best cancer care. In addition to this, Elekta offers a range of benefits.

  • Hybrid work option (you are required to work from the Crawley HQ at least 3 days per week).
  • Up to 8 days paid vacation days (prorated due to duration of contract) (plus bank holidays).
  • Onsite subsidised restaurant, offering budget‑friendly dining.
