We invite applications for a Research Software Engineer to join the Oxford Protein Informatics group https://opig.stats.ox.ac.uk/ (OPIG). This exciting position is unique within the University and will provide an unrivalled and privileged opportunity to interact directly between a highly productive academic group and many pharmaceutical companies. The project is pioneering an academic business model for how to achieve simultaneously the ideal of fully open software while sustaining a long-term funding stream.
The position is offered on a permanent basis and is full-time.
Applicants will have completed a relevant PhD/DPhil with post-qualification research experience. Relevant areas of research include computational chemistry, structural biology/bioinformatics, statistics, machine learning, computer science or mathematics. They will have a strong publication record and familiarity with the existing literature and research in computational chemistry or structural biology/bioinformatics, experience with coding in a wide variety of languages and platforms, Python in particular. They would also have prior experience of collaboratively developing software tools in the areas of computational chemistry, structural biology/bioinformatics, statistics or machine learning.
