You'll be joining the Wessex Neurological Centre, a nationally renowned specialist service based at University Hospital Southampton. We provide comprehensive neurosurgical care for a population of over 3 million people across central southern England. Our service operates 24/7 and includes over 60 dedicated inpatient beds, specialist outpatient clinics, and state-of-the-art theatres. We're proud to be one of only two major trauma centres in the South of England, offering a full spectrum of emergency and elective neurosurgical services.
As part of our Pituitary and Skull Base subspecialty team, you'll work alongside highly skilled neurosurgeons, endocrinologists, neuroradiologists, and ENT surgeons in regular MDT meetings, with strong links to research and teaching through the University of Southampton. In this role, youll take a lead in both elective and emergency neurosurgical care, specialising in Pituitary and Skull Base surgery. Youll have a balanced mix of clinical, teaching, research, and leadership responsibilities, working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team at one of the UKs leading neurological centres. Residence within 10 miles or 30 minutes of Southampton General Hospital (or Trust-approved alternative) is required for on-call commitments.
This role involves participation in regular MDT meetings, consultant meetings, and departmental leadership activities.
The post requires an enhanced DBS check, as standard for all clinical roles.
