Job description
About Us

The KCL & GSTT PET Centre is part of King's College London's Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine, and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and performs both clinical and research PET imaging studies. As part of the UK National Total Body PET Imaging Platform (npip.org.uk), two identical Siemens Total Body PET Scanners have recently been installed at St Thomas' to complement further PET-CT, PET-MRI, nuclear medicine and radiotracer production facilities. We are embarking on an extensive research programme that will include hosting projects from clinical, academic and industry researchers from within the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, the wider Trust and University and across the UK and internationally.

About The Role

We are looking for an exceptional lecturer/senior lecturer to develop and lead an ambitious programme of research in the field of PET Physics, with expertise and interest in PET technology, methodology and data analysis. This will involve collaborating with other PET experts in the School, including fellow academics and clinicians as well as medical physicists and clinical scientists working in the PET Centre. The post holder will be expected to build a research program that takes advantage of the Total Body PET scanners and other PET Centre facilities in tandem with building collaborations with the Research Department of Imaging Chemistry & Biology working on novel isotopes and radiopharmaceuticals and other clinical and scientific collaborators.

You’ll work as part of one of the world's largest translational radiopharmaceutical development and molecular imaging academic teams, with world‑class experts including Professor Simon Cherry – co‑leader of the team who developed the world's first clinically approved total‑body PET scanner. A pioneer in molecular imaging and PET, Professor Cherry leads on the PET Centre's innovative physics using its unique infrastructure, including two Siemens Quadra total‑body PET scanners, to generate new opportunities in total‑body PET and implement improvements in patient care.
