Job Description:

This is a fixed term locum post for a CAMHS Consultant psychiatrist to join the CYP Day Patient service and the Community Eating Disorders Team, arisen following recent expansion and enhancement of the CYP service.

The postholder will work alongside specialist MDT teams and join a group of 7 Consultant Psychiatrists in the Vincent Square Eating Disorder Service. Each Consultant has a leadership role within the clinical teams and pathways. Academic, teaching, and management interests are encouraged and supported. The role can be tailored to individual professional interests to support personal development.

• Provide psychiatric and medical assessment and management of children and young people with eating disorders in the CYP Day Programme and Community Team.
• Provide clinical leadership and consultation within these teams.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, including acute hospital partners.
• Offer liaison input to paediatric/medical wards as per MEED guidelines.

The Vincent Square Eating Disorder Service is an all-age service with a multidisciplinary team delivering evidence-based treatments tailored to patient needs. You will work with dedicated, innovative colleagues committed to high-quality care during a period of service growth.

• Provide clinical leadership within the Day Patient and CEDS-CYP teams.
• Responsible for patient care within these services.
• Diagnose patients using ICD10 codes at assessment and document appropriately.
• Lead weekly MDT meetings, offering supervision and consultation.
• Consult on risk management with multidisciplinary team members.
• Manage referral flow, assessments, and waiting lists with the team manager.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments for complex cases, including travel to paediatric wards or inpatient units.
• Review and manage psychiatric care for community and day patients.
• Provide liaison to ChelWest paediatric services.
• Offer RC cover for ED patients on ChelWest wards.
• Develop and maintain effective MEED pathways with Paediatrics.
• Access Tier 4 inpatient services as needed, reviewing care and discharge plans.
• Participate in CPA and MHA assessments as appropriate.
• Support a psychologically minded, open clinic culture.
• Attend weekly staff, CPD, and consultant meetings.
• Supervise and train psychiatry trainees with special interest sessions.
• Provide cross-cover for colleagues and be active in the service leadership team.
• Contribute to service development, clinical protocols, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure proper data entry.
• Contribute to outcome data collection and monitoring.
• Liaise with statutory and non-statutory agencies for patient management.
• Ensure proper discharge procedures and incident reporting.
• Adhere to service policies and guidelines.
• Maintain up-to-date CPD.
