Haringey legal services are establishing a new disrepair team within the litigation department to handle disrepair cases. Join our Lexcel-accredited legal service, known for excellent client care. We offer a unique opportunity to shape our team ethos from the ground up.

As a Senior Lawyer in the Housing Disrepair Legal Team, you will provide expert legal advice on housing disrepair cases, manage your own caseload, oversee case progression, and contribute to the team’s strategic direction. You will supervise junior staff and support senior legal staff in team development, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

• Knowledge of legislation and case law related to housing and anti-social behaviour litigation
• Experience in advocacy in Magistrates or County Court
• Qualified solicitor, barrister, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work objectively, calmly, and efficiently under pressure
• Strong team collaboration skills and ability to work well with legal and support staff, clients, and external partners
• Ability to provide accessible, specialist legal advice to diverse stakeholders

• Senior Managers (Chief Executive, Chief Officers, Assistant Directors, Service Managers, Heads of Service)
• Members of the Council
• Legal Service staff and other officers
• External partners including legal counsel, law firms, courts, tribunals, and experts

Progression to grade PO7 requires fulfilling all current duties, demonstrating self-motivation, working independently, and meeting higher standards such as:

• Specialist knowledge in multiple areas or significant experience in key areas for the Council
• High client satisfaction and examples of achieving this
• Supporting development of others through coaching or mentoring
• Successful teamwork and partnership collaboration
