Exciting opportunity to join a specialist Contentious Trust and Probate team

I'm working with a highly regarded law firm that is seeking an experienced Litigation solicitor to join their specialist Contentious Trust and Probate team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious solicitor looking to develop their career in this growing area of specialism, working on varied and high-quality matters.

The Role

You’ll be handling a diverse caseload of contentious trust and probate work, including:

  • Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975
  • Challenges to the validity of Wills (capacity, undue influence, lack of knowledge and approval)
  • Disputes regarding the proper administration of estates
  • Interpretation and construction of Will disputes (including rectification applications)
  • Beneficial and resulting trusts
  • Claims under TOLATA 1996
  • Undue influence and real estate fraud claims
  • Claims based upon Proprietary Estoppel
  • Property and land disputes
  • Mediations
  • Professional negligence arising out of negligent estate planning

The firm has a strong and varied client base with particular expertise in the agriculture sector. The contentious trust and probate team is well-supported by substantial private client, non-contentious property, and agriculture departments.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Civil litigation background with demonstrable experience in contentious trust and probate and property dispute matters
  • Ideally 8+ years PQE
  • Strong technical expertise in this specialist area
  • Excellent client care and relationship management skills
  • Determination to succeed and progress within the team
  • Takes initiative and shows a genuine desire to learn and develop
  • Professional and commercial approach to delivering legal advice
