The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee engineering support across relevant programmes of work.
This is a contract role and has been classified as inside IR35.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Managing DA safety cases and engineering workstreams to ensure the programme achieves its end of design life.
- Developing, maintaining, and implementing the Safety Justification Plan.
- Engaging with stakeholders throughout project lifecycles to ensure Defence Authority (DA) requirements are identified and managed.
- Ensuring all activities comply with site-specific Safety Management Arrangements, processes, and procedures.
- Providing guidance to Safety Case and Design Engineers.
- Contributing to the programme’s option evaluation processes.
- Promoting professional behaviours within the engineering team.
- Sharing system-specific Learning from Experience (LfE) within the engineering function.
- Fostering a culture of collaboration and transparency.
- Preparing and delivering safety case and engineering presentations as needed.
- Facilitating effective communication between the programme team and stakeholders to support programme delivery.
- Adhering to policies on Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality, and contributing to their ongoing improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree qualification in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or near attainment, with a commitment to professional development.
- Extensive knowledge of nuclear industry standards and site Authorised Conditions compliance.
- Experience with technical assurance activities.
- Experience in project engineering and site implementation/integration.
- Understanding of legislation and standards relevant to the industry.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments.
- Ability to produce technical documentation such as reports, specifications, and queries.
- Stakeholder engagement skills.
- Basic health and safety training for site visits.
- Knowledge of nuclear safety case requirements.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Supervision and mentoring experience within engineering teams.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
