Job summary

A leading children's healthcare provider in Birmingham is seeking a Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Neurology to join the team for a 12-month period starting January 2026. Ideal candidates should have experience in paediatric neurology or related fields. This is a full-time 40-hour position without on-call commitments, providing an opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for GMC registration.
  • Previous training in Paediatric Neurology / Neurodisability/ Community Paediatrics.
  • Experience in clinical teaching.

Responsibilities

Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Neurology

The closing date is 29 September 2025

We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic doctor to join the Paediatric Neurology Team at Birmingham Children's Hospital for a period of 12 months in the first instance, to commence in January 2026.

The start date may be deferred to March 2026 in exceptional circumstances to allow consistency with UK changeover dates.

All tertiary Paediatric services are centred in the Birmingham Children's Hospital, in the Birmingham City centre which has excellent transport links.

The successful applicant will work alongside 7 consultants in paediatric neurology, and a team of resident doctors. They are supported by a full complement of highly committed specialist therapists and nurses providing excellent multidisciplinary care.

Main duties of the job

Candidates should ideally have some experience in paediatric neurology/ neurodisability / community paediatrics. The post would be suitable for a paediatric trainee in UK attempting a period of Out of programme experience [OOPE] prior to applying to a national grid post in paediatric neurology, Neurodisability or community paediatrics. It would also benefit a UK SPIN epilepsy aspirant or an overseas trainee with substantial paediatric and paediatric neurology experience seeking UK experience subject to all employment clearances.

This is a 40-hour post with no on call commitments.
