Job summary

A leading teaching hospital in the UK is seeking a Clinical Education Fellow for 16 hours per week on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Overview

Exciting news! We're thrilled to announce a brand-new opportunity for a LTFT (16 hours per week) 12-month fixed term Clinical Education Fellow post. Ideally starting in March 2026 but can be negotiated for the right candidate. There is the potential to extend the contract for an additional year.

This role is tailor‑made to support both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, offering a unique chance to shape the future of medical education. You'll be teaching medical students in the dynamic hospital environment while also providing mentorship to aspiring doctors. From phase 1 bedside teaching to phase 2 curriculum and assessment activities, you'll cover a wide array of topics, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience.

With a schedule of two days per week you'll have the flexibility to pursue additional clinical bank shifts. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in medical education!

Eligibility

You must have the right to live and work in the UK. If you require a visa to work, please note that we are currently unable to support sponsorship requests for this role. This role does not meet the Trust’s hard‑to‑recruit criteria. Therefore, please be advised relocation expenses will not be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitating weekly Phase 1 (first and second‑year medical students from the University of Buckingham Medical School) bedside teaching; taking small groups of students to clinical areas to practise history taking and examinations and teaching bedside etiquette.
  • Assisting with undergraduate and postgraduate simulation training.
  • Assisting with planning other student activities such as elective placements, assistantships, revision sessions before finals and other undergraduate education programmes.
  • Delivering small‑group workshops, lectures, simulation‑based education, and mentoring. All teaching materials are provided; development of resources is expected and encouraged.
  • Involved with the Trust’s on‑site academic centre, including two fully equipped simulation suites, high‑fidelity manikins and state‑of‑the‑art audio‑visual equipment.
  • Training in assessment and evaluation of students, including marking exams, assessing at OSCEs, quality assurance processes and supporting the running of clinical examinations in the trust.
  • Working with the wider MDT within Medical Education to effectively plan for student placements.
  • Providing student pastoral support.
  • Working on research and quality improvement projects relevant to medical education, with an expectation of presentations at professional meetings and publication in relevant journals.
  • Networking with education fellows outside the trust, attending education conferences, the weekly Grand Round, the weekly Medical Journal Club and weekly IMT teaching.
  • Having regular meetings with your supervisor to aid appraisal and guide your development.
  • Occasional travel to Buckingham Medical School, as well as NHS Partnership Trusts.
Qualifications
  • Medicine degree.
