Overview

We are looking for a Senior Clinical Fellow to join the Urology Team at Chorley and South Ribble District Hospital and Royal Preston Hospital. The post is for an initial period of twelve months.

Applicants should hold a full driving licence as you will be required to commute between both hospital sites.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Consultant medical staff in the provision of urological services at both hospital sites.
  • Attend daily ward rounds at Chorley and South Ribble District Hospital or Royal Preston Hospital.
  • Attend out‑patient clinics at Preston and Chorley.
  • Participate in operating sessions determined by the individual’s experience, including supervised in‑patient and day‑case lists in Chorley, and training in endoscopic, laparoscopic and open pelvic and renal surgery in Preston.
  • Cover the 1 in 7 on‑call rota at Registrar/middle grade level covering Preston and Chorley Hospitals.
  • Engage in audit, research, teaching and training activities for medical and clinical staff.
  • Assess ward referrals at Royal Preston and Chorley Hospitals.
  • Provide support to junior staff (FY1 and FY2).
  • Complete a weekly programme with approximately two clinics, three inpatient lists, one flexible cystoscopy/diagnostic list and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Qualifications
  • Full driving licence.
Educational Opportunities

Modern Education Centres at both Royal Preston and Chorley and South Ribble Hospital sites offer excellent library and study facilities, including PC/Internet support. As a teaching hospital, we encourage all staff to participate in teaching and training at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and you will be expected to take on the role of educational supervisor for doctors in training attached to the department.

We support the requirements for Continuing Medical Education as laid down by the Royal Colleges and are committed to providing time and financial support for these activities. You will receive full support from the Trust and the Directorate to develop specialist areas of interest in line with business plans and service development within the Trust.
