A local government authority is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to lead in complex social work cases, mentor new social workers, and support families facing challenges. This role requires a qualified social worker with at least three years of experience in children and families social work. The position offers a competitive salary, benefits, and a commitment to diversity and equality.
Support families, guide colleagues and shape the future of our practice. This is a role where experience meets impact. You'll support families facing complex challenges while mentoring the next generation of social workers - helping to raise standards across the board and ensuring children and young people receive the care they need to thrive.
Working Style: You'll be based in the Borough for 4 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you're working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives.
As an Advanced Practitioner, you'll bring your skills, judgement and experience to some of the most complex and challenging cases. You'll lead by example, supporting your team with confident decision-making, strong planning and clear, compassionate communication.
You'll carry a caseload of complex cases yourself, often involving court work or multi-agency planning. You'll provide second opinions and guidance where needed and will be someone the team can rely on when a case needs deeper insight or a steady hand.
Mentorship is a key part of the role. You'll support newly qualified and less experienced social workers through coaching and supervision, sharing your practice wisdom and helping them build confidence and capability.
You'll be a qualified social worker with at least three years of post-qualifying experience in children and families social work and be registered with Social Work England. You'll have a deep understanding of the impact of abuse, neglect and systemic disadvantage, and know how to use trauma-informed, anti-discriminatory and strengths-based approaches to support families.
You'll have experience supporting children with protection plans, looked after children and care leavers. You'll be confident in planning for stability and long-term outcomes, and able to manage your work in a performance-focused environment without losing sight of what matters most: the people you support.
At RBKC, we're all in - investing in our people, our communities and our future. As an Advanced Practitioner, you'll have the chance to shape practice across your team and make a lasting difference to children and families.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, and a culture where your efforts are recognised - not just in outcomes, but in the value you bring every day. We are committed to promoting equality and respecting diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community. We are a Disability Confident Employer - committed to ensuring that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.
We are committed to fair, transparent, and consistent pay practices. New hires will normally start at the minimum of the pay scale. However, a higher starting salary may be negotiated where a candidate demonstrates exceptional skills, knowledge, or experience.
