A leading engineering recruitment agency is seeking a Trainee Field Technician to perform static load tests across the UK. Ideal candidates should possess a HGV Class 2 Licence and a mechanical aptitude, coupled with a willingness to stay away from home during the week. Responsibilities
- Drive HGV to various sites and set up load tests.
- Conduct static load testing and record data.

Candidates must be based from a commutable distance of Derby, Nottingham, Mansfield, Newark, Hucknall, Long Eaton, Beeston, West Bridgford, Ilkeston.
£30,000-£36,000 + Performance Bonus (up to £6,000)+ Mon - Fri, 40hrs + Overtime Available (Weekends) + 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays + Company Training + Qualification + Pension + Nationwide travel+ Overnight stays

This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist engineering business operating at the forefront of structural and infrastructure testing across the UK. The company works on high‑profile projects including major stadiums, large commercial structures, and critical infrastructure, delivering essential safety and strength testing that underpins some of the country's most important builds.
The day‑to‑day responsibilities will be to perform static load testing, drive an HGV vehicle to sites, erect the test using the lorry‑mounted crane, and undertake site work using the automated pile testing equipment at customer sites. In this role you will be required to stay away from home on a weekly basis from Monday to Friday.
The ideal candidate will be someone who holds a HGV Class 2 Licence, is mechanically minded, and is happy with stay‑away from home.
Whether your background is in REME, Royal Navy, RAF, your transferable skills will be highly valued.
- Driving an HGV to sites across the UK and setting up structural pile load tests using lorry‑mounted crane equipment
- Carrying out static load testing using automated pile testing systems and recording technical data
- Site‑based field role working Monday to Friday with some weekend overtime opportunities
- Must have a HGV licence (Class 2) with confidence operating vehicles and associated equipment
- Mechanically minded/experience (college, apprenticeship or part‑time hobby)
- Happy with stay‑away from home on a weekly basis (Monday to Friday)
