Job summary

Qualifications

Location: Luton

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000

Hours: Full‑time, permanent

Penguin Recruitment are a representing a fast‑growing, multidisciplinary consultancy within the built environment who are seeking a Sustainability Consultant to join its expanding energy and sustainability division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete SAP and SBEM calculations and produce EPCs for domestic and non‑domestic buildings.
  • Prepare Energy Statements for planning submissions, including London Plan and regional compliance.
  • Conduct Overheating Assessments aligned with TM59 and TM52.
  • Support or lead on Whole Life‑Cycle Carbon Assessments and Circular Economy Statements.
  • Undertake daylight and sunlight modelling for residential and mixed‑use schemes.
  • Assist with Decarbonisation Reports and Net Zero Strategies for large commercial estates.
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, architects, and design teams, providing clear technical advice.
  • Support development of internal processes, templates, and methodologies.
  • Mentor junior assessors and contribute to building the future sustainability division.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in building energy modelling or sustainability consultancy.
  • Proficiency with IES‑VE, Elmhurst, or similar software (SAP/SBEM/TM59/TM52).
  • Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations Part L and relevant energy compliance standards.
  • Experience preparing Energy Statements for planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable
  • BREEAM experience (Assessor or AP) – training and requalification supported.
  • Familiarity with OneClick LCA, TM54, or ESOS energy auditing.
  • Experience with Whole Life‑Cycle Carbon or Decarbonisation reporting.
  • Knowledge of daylight/sunlight or natural ventilation modelling.
