Senior Java Engineer — Zepz powers WorldRemit and Sendwave to enable the next generation of cross-border payments. We serve over 9 million customers across 4,000 corridors and aim to make money moves faster, safer, and more convenient. Zepz operates globally to connect the global north and south and support migrants sending money to loved ones while expanding access to better financial tools.

Join us as we build and scale the Payments Domain, the strategic core of our mission to empower migrant communities worldwide by making international payments fair, fast, and flexible.

• Architect and expand our offerings within the Payments Domain, managing end-to-end processes from mobile app interactions and pay‑in/payout flows to robust backend systems and safeguarding operations.
• Design and implement new products and APIs (GraphQL, gRPC) that redefine cross-border finance and drive operational efficiency.
• Automate complex processes using our Business Process Management platform and integrate pivotal external partners into our global payment flows.
• Build internal tooling to empower the Operations team to deliver best-in-class customer support.
• Operate in rapid iteration cycles (short sprints) with full ownership from concept to production, including feature development, monitoring, alerting, and security integrations for proactive threat detection.

• Experience in building Java and/or Kotlin solutions for scalable microservices-based systems.
• Strong understanding of API technologies and purposes (GraphQL, gRPC).
• Java Spring experience; ability to analyze and optimize system performance and address architectural bottlenecks.
• Working knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Experience designing and implementing monitoring dashboards for system health and performance.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) is a plus.
• Openness to diversity and inclusivity; collaboration with a globally distributed team.

• Experience with Python or React is a plus.
• Prior experience building AI agents.
• Strong eagerness to learn new technologies and advance mastery in Java/Kotlin microservices.
