Job description
Overview

Acoustics and Signature Analyst — Full Time, On-site. Derby, Raynesway. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Acoustics and Signature Analyst to join Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby. As an analyst in the Signature Group you will primarily be delivering acoustic predictions using engineering analysis/CAE (e.g., FEA/FEM, SEA, multi-physics solvers), developing associated methods, toolsets, and supporting Validation and Verification (V&V) activities. You will be supporting in-build and future programmes.

We are currently looking for talented analysts to join the Signature Group within Technology in Rolls-Royce Submarines. The Signature Group is primarily responsible for assessing the signature performance of the plant and providing recommendations for improving performance. In addition, the group supports the development of technology, capability, and testing programmes.

Why Rolls-Royce

We design, build and service systems that provide critical power to customers where safety and reliability are paramount. We are proud to be a force for progress, powering, protecting and connecting people everywhere. We want to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that has shaped our history continues into our future and we need people like you to come and join us on this journey.

We’ll provide an environment of caring and belonging where you can be yourself. An inclusive, innovative culture that invests in you, gives you access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities where you can grow your career and make a difference.

What we offer

We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing

You will be conducting acoustic analysis/CAE (e.g., FEA/FEM, SEA, multi-physics solvers) and providing advice and guidance to the boat programmes:

  • Strategic thinking to build on the business vision for the future of the signature capability.
  • Liaising with customers, and various stakeholders in the signature community.
  • Undertaking work relating to analysis/CAE, analysis methods development including V&V and uncertainty qualification.
  • Supporting product V&V through relevant testing or commissioning programmes.
  • Provide technical guidance in the design process.
  • Drive continuous improvement through the business to develop capability and improvements to design.
Who we are looking for

At Rolls-Royce we put safety first, do the right thing, make a difference, and seek simplicity in everything we do while also securing information. These principles form our values and behaviours and are an essential component of our assessment process and are fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

  • Bachelor\'s degree, Master\'s or PhD in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrate interest in noise & vibration assessments.
  • Able to prioritise tasks and work effectively on multiple projects at the same time.
  • An ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and with our customer.
  • Experience of research and development, analytical and test validation activities.
  • Desire to actively promote, encourage and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvements (of tools, processes and methods) both within and outside their immediate sphere and prompt action across the wider team and organisation.

We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives which are crucial to innovation and problem solving. We believe the more diverse perspectives we have, the more successful we’ll be. By building a culture of caring and belonging, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.
