About the job you're considering

Software Developer (Guidance Navigation Control)- Stevenage/Hybrid

Software developer with Guidance Navigation control experience is preferred but we are also open to professionals with expertise development with C, C++, Python, Github, MS Visual Studios, ROS 2 regardless of industry background.

Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your role

GNC evolution - enhanced functionality of rovers - 2028 mission - Agile - 2 week sprint.
Big code base, highly optimized - complex, local motion - simulation, low-level networking.
Algorithm development, code quality, 90% documented code, Sensor servers, cameras, Ubuntu & RedHat, Network administrator, Docker containerization.

Your skills and experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field required. (or are working towards one for interns)

Desired Experience (required for experienced applicants):

• C/C++ development, git for version control.
• Python development, in particular data processing and the use of graphing libraries.
• Linux operating systems and bash CLI/scripting.

Experience with the following technologies is beneficial:

• GitLab/GitHub or similar platform for collaborative development.
• Continuous Integration (CI).
• gcc, make, cmake and related compilation infrastructure.
• ROS 2, or other robotics middleware.
• Integrated development workflow, in particular use of VS Code as an IDE.

Experience in the following topics:

• Control algorithms, in particular control of actuators or processing of sensor data (e.g. IMU, lidar) and vision based navigation.
• Simulation modelling, developing models of equipment, dynamics or the environment.

Robotics hands on skills, e.g.:

• Soldering
• Basic electronics
• Basic networking
• Basic knowledge about cameras
• OS installation and package management
