UK Natural Resources Industry Leader

This role will own the UK retail Natural Resource Industry strategy and growth opportunity. The successful candidate will be a critical member of the UK’s Industry Leadership Team. In this role, you will develop and implement a Natural Resources strategy as it pertains to growth, thought leadership, and innovation. This specialist role is primarily focused on growth of the UK Commercial Risk business and will drive growth in this broad and evolving sector with particular emphasis on the developing technologies in line with the commercial opportunity. In addition, the expectation is to make a significant contribution to the wider Aon United strategy which entails harnessing the various capabilities and assets under the broad Aon umbrella from across all solution lines, for the benefit of our Natural Resources clients.

As the Natural Resource leader for UK retail, you will report into the UK Client Industry Sectors Leader and work in collaboration with the EMEA Regional Specialty Practice and Global Broking Centre in London.

What the day will look like
  • Find opportunities for organic growth and client retention across the industry sub-sectors by demonstrating capabilities and solutions, most notably within Commercial Risk.
  • Build collaborative, working partnerships with colleague practitioners from across all Aon products, businesses, and regions (Aon United). Work closely with Global Broking Center (GBC) colleagues, Aon M&A and Transactions (AMATS), Risk Engineering (AGRC) and other areas of the firm to drive revenue growth primarily for UK Commercial Risk.
  • Develop thought leadership and insights based on Aon data, client feedback, and industry trends to attract and facilitate client engagement opportunities.
  • Meet with clients, prospects, and markets to understand current macro risk trends and strategically develop tailored risk, people, and capital solutions.
  • Engage brokers, account executives, claims executives, consultants, sales, and other colleagues across the business to complete growth and thought leadership strategies.
  • Personnel commitment and ownership to provide client service, particularly important during the earlier growth stages until client portfolio is more established and service team resource aligned as we scale the industry sector in UK hub offices including London, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Natural Resources relevant proven experience.
  • Proven track record of revenue generation, commercial success, and client management.
  • We are seeking a colleague with significant industry sector experience fostering credibility and with gravitas to develop Aon’s footprint in this high growth industry sector. Ideally, the candidate is familiar with both conventional and newer technologies including but not limited to Oil & Gas, Power, Wind & Solar, CCUS, Hydrogen, BESS, and mining.
  • Proven self-starter, intellectually curious, teammate experienced in supporting a fast-paced, growing practice operating in a complex matrix environment with multiple partners.
  • Understanding and familiarity with the issues and trends impacting the sector in areas including risk management, people, capital, and relevant governance and regulatory frameworks of Natural Resource client organizations.
