A well-established insurance company is seeking a talented New Business Underwriter to join their growing team in Bristol. This role involves generating new business, maintaining broker relationships, and contributing to the technical management of the regional portfolio. Ideal candidates will have a proven underwriting background and strong interpersonal skills.

- Experience in the Commercial Insurance industry.

Responsibilities
- Generate new business within risk selection and authority parameters.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with brokers.
- Collaborate with claims and survey teams as needed.

Lawes is pleased to be working alongside a well-established insurance company to fill a key position in their growing team. We are seeking a talented Underwriter to join our client’s team in Bristol. As a New Business Underwriter, you will play a key role in meeting income and profit targets by efficiently managing case underwriting and fostering relationships with brokers. This position provides the chance to contribute to the technical management of the regional portfolio and strengthen the company’s presence in the local market.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate new business within risk selection and authority parameters
- Establish and maintain strong personal relationships with key directors and staff at important brokers
- Display strong negotiation skills to enhance conversion and relationships with key brokers
- Contribute to the technical knowledge of the company by providing market intelligence to the Regional Director & wider team
- Collaborate with other parts of the organisation, especially the claims and survey teams, when required
DAY-TO-DAY
- Develop and maintain broker relationships
- Negotiate effectively and flexibly
- Collaborate across functions to build strong relationships
- Communicate clearly and effectively
EXPERIENCE
- Proven track record in underwriting development within the P&C market
- Experience in the Commercial Insurance industry
- Strong interpersonal skills and structured work approach
