Job summary
A recruitment agency is looking for a maintenance technician for night shifts in Hull, UK. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing plant equipment to ensure efficiency and compliance with safety regulations. Candidates should have FMCG manufacturing experience, strong fault-finding skills, and be self-motivated. Qualifications
- Completion of all mandatory and site-specific training.
- Previous experience in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair plant and equipment to high standards.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance and document checks.
- Conduct visual inspections on machinery for wear or contamination risk.
- Test and maintain metal detection and failsafe systems.
Skills
Working hours:
4 on 4 off Nights, 18.00 - 06.00
To maintain plant and equipment to ensure operational efficiency, compliance with food hygiene, health & safety regulations, and minimal downtime.
Qualifications & Training
- Completion of all mandatory and site-specific training
Experience & Skills
- Previous FMCG manufacturing experience (preferred)
- Understanding of continuous improvement methods
- Strong fault-finding and root cause analysis skills
- Accuracy, reliability, and ability to meet job demands
- Maintain and repair plant and equipment to high standards, ensuring minimal disruption
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM), documenting checks and corrective actions
- Conduct visual inspections on machinery to detect wear, damage, or contamination risk
- Regularly test and maintain metal detection and failsafe systems
- Ensure safe use and maintenance of tools, spare parts, and engineering equipment
- Liaise with management and cross-functional teams regarding breakdowns and maintenance activities
- Uphold high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and workshop cleanliness
- Comply with all food safety, health & safety, and legal standards
- Support KPIs in quality, safety, environment, yield, and customer service
- Attend required training and ensure up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., HACCP, COSHH, H&S Act)
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and highlight areas for operational improvement
- Respect ethical policies and contribute positively to the team culture
