About the service

North Yorkshire Council’s Education Psychology Service is a valued team within the Council and is committed to growing our EP team even further in the next year. We are looking for an innovative, and solution‑focused psychologist to join us in shaping the direction of our educational psychology service for the future.

We are also committed to providing our team with CPD opportunities. The team recently commissioned CPD from Kensington and Chelsea’s Bi‑Borough Education Psychology Services to deliver a CPD day on consultation; the second part of this training will take place in March.

It really is a great time to join our growing and ambitious service.

About the role

This is a new role within our Educational Psychology Service, focused on early intervention and supporting local inclusive practice.

Post holder responsibilities
  • Leading the development of initiatives within the EP team, focused on Early Intervention approaches.
  • Contributing to local authority initiatives and projects within the areas of specialism.
  • Contributing to service planning and development related to the specialist area.
  • Representing the EP team and contributing to relevant strategic groups and regional partnerships.
  • Providing supervision to colleagues in their own work, including that with children and young people, related to the area of specialism.
  • Working closely with partners such as Health, SEND Hub Advisory Teachers and Managers, Portage and Early Help to build capacity.
  • Supporting development of our traded offer.
  • Delivering effective psychological services to a group or cluster of schools, including statutory and non‑statutory work.
We’re looking for someone with:
  • Proven experience of impact within educational psychology services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and who want to be part of shaping our team.
  • Passionate and creative about their area of specialism.
Why join us?

We can offer you a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Friendly, supportive colleagues with a breadth of interests and experiences
  • A commitment to Continuing Professional Development
  • Commitment to supervision and team wellbeing through protected time
  • Family friendly leave and generous annual leave offer
  • Hybrid working with flexible working practices and hours.
  • Generous relocation scheme - up to £8,000
  • Fitness discounts: Discounted gym memberships at various gyms across the county.

  • And more: Additional wellbeing support and employee assistance.

Applications are welcomed from candidates who have a master’s or doctorate level qualification in Educational Psychology and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). You should be creative and forward thinking with the knowledge, skills, enthusiasm, and willingness to use psychological frameworks to facilitate positive change.
