Job Description

Within the Commercial Finance teams, everything depends on the overall trading environment and our competitors. It's fast-paced and you never know what will happen next. We're now recruiting for a Finance Business Partner to join our team reporting to the Commercial Head of Finance.

The aim of this role is to provide financial and analytical support to the trading team, producing weekly routine reports along with ad hoc trial analysis, as well as supporting with the production of budgets and forecasts for the commercial P&L. You will also manage the month end reporting, including journal processing and reconciliations and support with audit requirements and ensure a clean cut off at half year and year end.

What you'll be doing:
* Support the Head of Finance with all planning cycles; Budget, Forecast 1, Forecast 2 and 3 year Plan
* Update the Cognos database with adjustments for Sales & Margin, Incomes & Costs
* Prepare Budget & Forecast packs for review meetings along with output reports for the trading teams
* Produce weekly reports for the trading teams including category sales analysis and margin Volume/Rate/Mix analysis
* Produce ad hoc seasonal reports for key trading periods e.g. Back to School/Christmas
* Produce trial reports on a pre versus post versus control basis
* Complete all month end reporting including processing journals, reconciling balances and interpreting variances
* Report the month end position to the Head of Finance and the trading teams
* Manage aged debt and support the trading teams to prevent bad debt
* Assist the trading teams to achieve the half year and year end cash targets

The Successful Applicant

We are looking for someone who is ideally a fully qualified accountant with experience of forecasting and budgets. You should be proactive and analytical with advanced Excel skills who is reliable and thorough. Experience of working with Cognos and Power BI desirable. Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines is a must; Finance is ever changing so being flexible and open to change is beneficial. You'll need to be interpersonal with strong influencing and communication skills and strong attention to detail and organisation skills with ability to work independently.
