A consumer products manufacturer in West Yorkshire is looking for a Fragrance Formulation Chemist to join their technical team. In this hands-on role, you will leverage your fragrance expertise in development and project management, working closely with fragrance houses and internal teams. The ideal candidate should have a degree in Chemistry or a related field and a passion for fragrance development. Fragrance Formulation Chemist - West Yorkshire - Home Care & Personal Care
An established and fast-growing consumer products manufacturer is seeking a Fragrance Formulation Chemist to join its technical team. This is a hands‑on development role combining fragrance expertise, laboratory testing and project management, working closely with external fragrance houses and internal commercial teams.
Reporting into senior R&D leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing new and improved fragrances across a broad portfolio of home care and personal care products, from concept through to launch.
Conduct market and trend research within the fragrance category to identify new opportunities across home and personal care applications
Build and manage strong working relationships with external fragrance houses, creating clear briefs and guiding development activity
Develop a robust pipeline of fragrances aligned to brand, customer and product requirements
Carry out compatibility, stability and performance testing of fragrances in existing and new formulations
Manage internal and external product evaluations, including identifying and implementing new evaluation methods
Ensure all laboratory work is completed safely, accurately and in compliance with regulatory and quality standards (e.g. BRC, ISO 9001)
Review competitor products to assess fragrance performance, claims and emerging technologies
Provide quality and technical support to manufacturing and QC teams when required
Generate CLP hazard classifications and safety data sheets for new and existing products
Assess new raw material and fragrance sources, making technical recommendations based on laboratory investigations
Maintain accurate technical documentation, reports and quality plans
Degree or equivalent background in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
Experience or strong interest in fragrance development, formulation or applied chemistry
Knowledge of laboratory testing, product evaluation and stability assessment
Understanding of regulatory, health & safety and quality requirements within FMCG, home care or personal care environments
Strong project management and time management skills
Confident communicator, able to collaborate across technical, commercial and external partners
