Job summary
A leading UK recruitment agency is seeking an experienced HGV Technician in the Oxford area. Candidates must ideally be level 3 qualified or willing to achieve IRTEC Accreditation. Responsibilities include performing repairs on heavy goods vehicles, conducting regular inspections, and providing emergency repair services. Additionally, candidates must have a strong technical background and computer literacy. This role offers competitive pay rates ranging from £18 to £28 per hour depending on experience and overtime.
Qualifications
- Must be a level 3 qualified HGV technician or level 2 with willingness to achieve IRTEC Accreditation.
- Strong technical background and previous experience as an HGV technician are required.
- Must be confident using technology.
Responsibilities
- Perform major and minor repairs to heavy goods vehicles.
- Conduct regular inspection and preventive maintenance services.
- Maintain workshop inventory and cleanliness.
- Collaborate with repair teams for effective diagnosis.
- Maintain records of repairs and interventions.
- Provide emergency repair services to clients on the road.
- Complete relevant documentation and warranty claims.
- Deliver in-house training to recruits and trainees.

My client in the Oxford area require an experienced HGV Technician.
You will need to be a level 3 qualified HGV technician. Or, if you are level 2 HGV qualified, we will put you through the IRTEC Inspection Accreditation in your first couple of weeks with the business.
An IRTEC Accreditation certifies the skills and safety of technicians working in road transport, indicating an ability of the highest calibre.
- Performing major and minor repairs to heavy goods vehicles, trailers and other vehicles
- Performing regular inspection and general preventive maintenance services such as tyre rotation and oil changes
- Maintaining inventory in the workshop and cleanliness from oil spills and dust
- Working with repair teams to help diagnose and plan repairs for the vehicles
- Maintaining records of vehicles that have been repaired or handled
- Providing repair services to clients on the road in case of emergencies
- Completing relevant documentation and paperwork as required and providing warranty claims or escalating them to higher management
- Providing in-house training to recruits and trainees
- Industry qualifications achieved to ideally Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or mechanical engineering (all modules completed).
- Previous working experience as an HGV technician with a strong technical background
- You are computer literate and confident using technology
- Basic £18/£19ph
- Overime £27/£28ph
