The Opportunity

Are you passionate about vehicle maintenance and keen to work in a role that supports vital emergency services? Join our Transport & Logistics (T&L) team and play a key part in maintaining the operational efficiency of North Yorkshire Police (NYP) and North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (NYFRS) fleets.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Perform diagnostics, servicing, inspections, and repairs on a range of fleet vehicles, ensuring compliance with legal and organisational standards.
  • Respond to service requests, attend breakdowns, and carry out repairs at various locations (static and mobile services).
  • Contribute to process and service improvements.
  • Utilise advanced diagnostic tools to identify faults and implement effective solutions.
  • Lead and execute vehicle conversions and radio equipment installations to NAPFM and NFCC standards.
  • Install and maintain telematics systems, in-vehicle recording equipment, and other advanced technologies.
  • Stay current with evolving vehicle technologies, including electric vehicles.
  • Provide accurate and timely maintenance data.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
  • Relevant qualification(s) in vehicle maintenance (e.g., Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician) or demonstrable experience delivering high-quality transport maintenance services in a high-volume environment.
  • Proficiency in using and interpreting diagnostic tools.
  • Experience in vehicle conversion processes.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage complex tasks independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate across diverse platforms.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and IT systems, with accurate record-keeping skills.
  • Full current driving licence relevant to the role.
  • Familiarity with Health & Safety practices in a workshop environment.
