Exciting Part-Time Opportunity: Youth Worker Wanted in Lichfield! Be the Difference in a Young Person’s Life – Flexible, Rewarding, and Inspiring Role.

Part-time, up to 10 hours per week (2 after school sessions, with flexibility for some weekends and extra hours in school holidays).

£18 an hour depending on experience/travel expenses/mileage will also be covered.

Are you energetic, creative, and passionate about making a genuine impact in a young person’s life? We’re looking for a dedicated Youth Worker to support an enthusiastic teenager with special needs in accessing interests and social opportunities in his local community. If you want to help young people thrive, develop their life skills, and connect with others, this is the role for you!

What Will You Be Doing?
  • Finding and facilitating fun, engaging community activities tailored to the young person’s unique interests – from gaming and music, to sports and social events.
  • Supporting him to develop confidence, independence, and life skills in real-life settings.
  • Working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team (including collaboration with a SEN Community Specialist who will advise on learning goals and support strategies).
  • Building a trusting relationship – your warmth, patience, and sense of humour will help foster his social skills and friendships.
  • Liaising with local activity providers to ensure experiences are accessible and inclusive for young people with differences such as Autism, ADHD, sensory processing needs, and trauma backgrounds.
  • Sharing your ideas for new activities and approaches – your creativity will be encouraged and valued!
Who Should Apply?
  • Those studying or qualified in Youth Work, Social Work, Teaching, or related fields, with a passion for SEND.
  • Individuals already working with young people seeking rewarding extra hours alongside their existing role.
  • Anyone who understands adolescent interests and can truly connect with teenagers – a flair for thinking “outside the box” is a must.
  • Applicants with a proactive approach, high energy, and a commitment to making a positive difference.
  • Individuals need to have a car and clean driving license.
  • Applicants will undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) and two satisfactory references are conditional for the post. This is a free and confidential process.
